2021 will be the first year for Xiaomi to market laptop products in Indonesia. On July 2021, the Chinese vendor released the RedmiBook 15 which was priced at IDR 7-8 million. Apparently, Xiaomi wants to release more laptop products to Indonesia.
This was said by Xiaomi Indonesia Country Director, Alvin Tse. "In 2022, we hope that Xiaomi Indonesia can also offer more laptop products, including high-end laptops," said Alvin in an online event titled "Embrace 2022 with Xiaomi Corporation" which was held on Friday (7/1/2022).
This plan arose because Alvin assessed that there was good market potential for new laptop brands in Indonesia. According to Alvin, this potential exists because the laptop market in Indonesia has only been dominated by a handful of brands. "So more consumers are looking for new options for laptops in the market. Evidently, the RedmiBook 15 is very popular in entry-mid level laptops," Alvin claims. With a good response to the first Xiaomi laptop in Indonesia, Alvin hopes that his party can bring more laptop products to the Indonesian market. Unfortunately, Alvin did not explain further about which Xiaomi laptop model might be sold in Indonesia after the RedmiBook 15.
Indeed, in its home country of China, Xiaomi has several times released laptop products. For example, in 2021, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi Mi Laptop Pro and the gaming laptop Redmi G 2021. In addition, Xiaomi is also noted to have released the RedmiBook laptop (2020), the Redmi G gaming laptop (2020), to the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro (2017).
In China, Xiaomi laptops are sold at a price range of IDR 7-15 million, depending on the screen size, the processor used, and the amount of memory selected. However, these laptops are not marketed to Indonesia.
